Across the airport, you and I locked eyes for the first time in what felt like a century 
In those brief seconds years of emotion flooded every cell I possessed
I had sealed the pain away until that moment
The glances shared between us
Memories made years and years ago
Eating waffles and sharing milkshakes
First kisses in living rooms
I love yous in friends' kitchens
Football games and cut-up mango
I relived every memory of us I ever had
It was beautiful 
It was painful 
It was so unexpected

Just like we were.
